Counting your daily steps is no longer enough to determine if your fitness goals can lead to longevity; the key is found in your VO2 max!
VO2 max, in this context, is defined as the maximum volume of oxygen your body can process, similar to a the horsepower in a car, better explained as “a measure of the capacity your body (engine) has to use oxygen when exercising. If you have a high VO2 max, you have a big engine.”
In this graph, I compared my personal VO2 max, as measured by my Apple Watch, to that of the global average for females, athletic females, elite athletic females, and the general Norwegian female population– all within the age range of 30-39.
